Keith Urban quits interview after racy Kidman question

Keith Urban has appeared to abruptly end an interview after being quizzed on wife Nicole Kidman’s steamy sex scenes – but all may not be as it seems.

The Australian country music star was speaking on Adelaide radio Mix 102.3 on Tuesday when hosts Max Burford and Hayley Pearson introduced a game called Wall of Truth, prepping him for a “very tricky … deeply personal question”.

“When I was coming up with something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you happen to play this game, the first thing I thought of, with your beautiful wife Nicole Kidman being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time … I watched a movie with her and Zac Efron recently, A Family Affair,” Burford said.

“What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV?”

In the moments after, Urban disappeared from the call. Another voice on the show said he’d been “disconnected from Zoom”.

“He’s gone,” Pearson said. “He doesn’t like talking about his wife.”

Burford, meanwhile, wondered: “Does Keith Urban hate us? Do we have beef with Keith Urban?”

But a source has since told People magazine that the 57-year-old Grammy Award-winner was not the one who ended the interview.

“Keith did not hang up, period,” the source said. “He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothing-burger.”

The source said Urban was a “very easygoing” interviewee and was not personally offended by the question. A representative for Urban declined to comment on the incident.

In Netflix’s A Family Affair, which was released in June 2024, Kidman plays a widowed writer who begins dating Efron’s character, a self-absorbed actor employing her daughter as a personal assistant.

“It’s really helpful when you’re doing this sort of work together that you’ve already got a history together, because it’s easy,” the 58-year-old told People last year.

“You’re not working to create a history. So I’m not like, ‘Can I touch you?’. I feel incredibly trusting of Zac.”

Urban and Kidman married in 2006 and celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in June.

They have daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14, together.
