One of the hottest rumours from the Golden Globes appears to have been confirmed, with reports Euphoria star Zendaya and her long-time partner Tom Holland are engaged.

Zendaya, 28, sparked the rumours by walking the red carpet in a Louis Vuitton gown on Sunday (US time) and sporting a massive diamond on her left ring finger.

While representatives for Zendaya and Holland have not returned calls from The Associated Press, People magazine said the couple was engaged, citing “a family source”.

Another source told the magazine that Holland, also 28, shared the news with friends around New Year’s Eve.

TMZ was the first to report the engagement, citing “sources close to the couple”.

The outlet said it had been told Holland “popped the question between Christmas and New Year’s”. It also said Holland met Zendaya’s dad, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, “months ago” to ask for her hand in marriage because it was important to have his blessing.

Zendaya has been linked to Holland since they played love interests in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“We were both very, very young, but my career was already kind of going, and his changed overnight. One day you’re a kid and you’re at the pub with your friends, and then the next day you’re Spider-Man,” Zendaya told Vogue of Holland’s star turn as the Marvel superhero.

“I definitely watched his life kind of change in front of him. But he handled it really beautifully.”

The couple keep a fairly low profile, however. True to form, Holland wasn’t at Sunday’s Globes.

“It’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he once said of his decision not to pose for photos at Zendaya’s movie premieres.

At the ceremony in Beverly Hills, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times seemed to confirm something was up when she held up her engagement ring and pointed to it, and Zendaya responded by showing her own left-hand bling.

The reporter then asked if the actor was engaged and “she kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously”.

Another clue was that Bulgari, for which the Dune star is an ambassador, provided Zendaya’s carpet jewellery – a necklace, right-hand ring and earrings. A press release did not mention the ring on her left ring finger.

TMZ said there were no wedding plans just yet. Both Holland and Zendaya have a long list of Hollywood projects and commitments coming up, meaning the wedding is on the backburner for the mean time.

The couple will also share the screen again in the highly-anticipated Christopher Nolan adaptation of The Odyssey. Also starring Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, it is not expected in cinemas until 2026.
