Singer and actor Selena Gomez has revealed her engagement, to a deluge of good wishes from other celebrities.
The 32-year-old star has taken the next step in her relationship with the 36-year-old producer and songwriter Benny Blanco, a year after making their romance official.
She took to Instagram to share the news with her 423 million followers, posting photos of her engagement ring. Other pictures show her beaming on a picnic after the proposal, and celebrating with her fiance.
“Forever begins now,” she captioned the romantic post.
Blanco commented: “hey wait … that’s my wife.”
Fans and famous friends of The Only Murders In The Building star were quick to send their congratulations to the twice-nominated Grammy star.
Friends icon Jennifer Aniston wrote: “HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama!”
And Lil Nas X added: “OMMGGGGG CONGRATSSS AHHH (sic)”
Taylor Swift weighed in with an offer: “Yes I will be the flower girl.”
Rapper Cardi B, actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Suki Waterhouse also sent well wishes.
Gomez also shared a mirror selfie holding her ring closer to the camera in her Instagram Stories.
Earlier in 2024, Blanco admitted he saw marriage in their future.
“When I look at her … I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this,” he told The Howard Stern Show in May.
In the same month, he told the Drew Barrymore Show that Gomez is “just like the best, most genuine person”.
“Everything is completely real. Everyday when I wake up, I, like, walk by the mirror as I’m, like, walking to her and I ask myself, ‘How did I get here’…” he said.
“She’s one of the sweetest, one of the most charming, one of the most humble people I’ve ever met.”
Gomez and Blanco met in 2019 and started dating four years later. They confirmed their romance in December 2023, with the Emilia Perez star saying they decided to publicly share some of their relationship – a choice that made her feel “safe” with her partner.
“I guess this is the safest I’ve ever felt in one, and I see a future with this person,” Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter.
“When you put a little bit out there, people are not as hungry to hunt you down. Like, if they hear something, they’re going to, but if you’re like, ‘I did it’, they’re like, ‘Oh, well there’s you, just going to Sushi Park’.”
“But there’s so much of my relationship people don’t see, that’s just mine.”
Gomez is content with the balance that allows her to maintain an element of privacy in her life.
Asked if she felt she had a private life, she said: “I do, because I hang out with people who aren’t really in the business that much. I mean, I have both.”
