Fans of singing sensation Olivia Rodrigo have been left gasping after she took an alarming tumble through the stage while performing in Melbourne.

The Drivers License singer was performing in front of 14,000 fans at a packed Rod Laver Arena in the last Melbourne show of her Guts tour when she suddenly fell through a hole that wasn’t meant to be there.

Video circulating online captures the audience’s shock as the 21-year-old suddenly disappears while dancing around the stage to greet the crowd early in her performance.

Luckily, Rodrigo appears to stop her fall with her hands. Nor was she down for long, quickly emerging from the dark gap to reassure the audience.

“Oh my god, that was fun. I’m OK, wow – sometimes there is just a hole in the stage. That’s all right,” she said, appearing to shrug off the fall.

“OK … where was I? How are we doing tonight, Melbourne?”

After the show, Rodrigo kept the jokes going on social media, where she joined in on TikTok’s “subtle foreshadowing” trend with an edit that highlighted her sudden fall through the stage.

She also reassured worried fans in a comment under the video, writing, “I am OK, haha” and signing off with a heart emoji.

Rodrigo got her big break as a star of Disney series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and then launched a music career with studio album Sour.

Her single Drivers License made her the youngest solo artist to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The eight-show Australian leg of her Guts tour began last week.

She will perform four more sold-out shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena from October 17.
