Barbie star Margot Robbie is reportedly expecting her first baby.

Multiple sources have confirmed to People magazine that the 34-year-old and her British director husband, Tom Ackerley, are expecting a baby.

It follows shots of Robbie, published in the News Corp papers, that sparked speculation she might be pregnant.

Britain’s Sun newspaper reported Robbie was snapped wearing a white crop top and showing off an apparent baby bump while on holiday at Lake Como.

Other recent photos showed her in flowing or baggy outfits.

Neither Queensland-born Robbie nor Ackerley have publicly commented.

The couple started dating in 2014 after meeting on the set of Suite Française year earlier. Ackerley was an assistant director, while Robbie was one of the stars.

The pair were friends before becoming romantically linked. They wed in a private ceremony in Australia in 2016.

“I was the ultimate single gal,” Robbie told Vogue.

“The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me.

“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought: ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him’.

“Then it happened and I was like: ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before’.”

Robbie and Ackerley keep their relationship largely out of the public glare. They didn’t walk the red carpet together until 2017, nearly a year after their wedding.

Robbie has also previously spoken about whether she might have children one day.

“It [makes] me really angry. How dare some old guy dictate what I can and can’t do when it comes to motherhood or my own body?” she told Britain’s Radio Times in January 2019.

“Unfortunately, it’s a conversation we’re still having.

“I got married and the first question in almost every interview is, ‘Babies? When are you having one?’ I’m so angry that there’s this social contract. You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do.”

The pregnancy news comes as Robbie’s production and acting career go from strength to strength.

Barbie was the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2023, raking in more than $1.46 billion at the box office.

It was produced by LuckyChap, the company set up by Robbie, Ackerley and Josey McNamara.

LuckyChap has also signed to produce a film based on the board game Monopoly and another based on popular video game The Sims.

“We want to make more films that have the effect that Barbie has,” Robbie told Variety recently.

“I don’t know if it has to be Barbie 2.

“Why can’t it be another big, original, bold idea where we get an amazing filmmaker, a big budget to play with, and the trust of a huge conglomerate behind them to go and really play?”
