A mugshot of pop star Justin Timberlake has been released after the singer was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in a prestigious celebrity hotspot in New York.
The SexyBack singer was stopped by police after allegedly swerving his 2025 BMW to the wrong side of the road and failing to stop at a stop sign in the Hamptons on Long Island.
Timberlake, 43, reportedly refused a breathalyser three times, but then allegedly failed the standard sobriety test which includes walking in a straight line.
He was arrested and held in custody on Tuesday night (local time), before facing Sag Harbour Village Justice Court in handcuffs the following morning.
People.com said Timberlake had been at dinner at the popular American Hotel and was on his way to a friend’s house when he was pulled over.
He reportedly told police he had consumed one martini and was following a friend home.
Police said Timberlake was pulled over in the town of Sag Harbour very early on Tuesday (local time) when he failed to stop at a stop sign.
“Upon investigation it was determined that Mr Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” a press release from the police department said.
“Mr Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbour Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30am, where he was released on his own recognisance.”
Court documents say Timberlake failed all standard sobriety tests, which include walking in a straight line and standing on one foot.
According to NBC, the arresting officer observed that Timberlake was driving in an “intoxicated condition”.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.”

People.com reports Timberlake was accompanied by a lawyer and two other people when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
He was handcuffed in court with his hands in front of him and wore a black bowling shirt, light jeans and white and baby blue Air Force 1s, wrote People.com.
Timberlake was photographed leaving the courthouse when he was released after the hearing, shielding his face with sunglasses and a hat.
His next court date will be a virtual appearance on July 26, police said.
Timberlake rose to fame as a member of 1990s boy band ‘N Sync before starting a solo career.
His hits include Can’t Stop the Feeling!, Suit & Tie and SexyBack.
He has two concerts scheduled in Chicago this weekend and two shows in New York City next week.
