Disgrace actor Kevin Spacey will star in the film 1242: Gateway To The West, his first major production since 2017, when the star was accused on multiple occasions of sexual abuse.

The two-time Oscar winner will direct this historical drama in an international co-production with capital from Britain, Hungary and Mongolia, Hollywood media reported.

This film tells the story of Batu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan and one of the commanders in chief of the Mongol empire, who was assigned the responsibility of invading Europe but failed.

Spacey will be on the cast with actors such as Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Terence Stamp, Jeremy Neumark and Genevieve Florence.

The film is expected to start shooting in October, under the direction of Hungarian filmmaker Peter Soons. The script is by Aaron Horvath and Joan Lane, with Bill Chamberlain and Kornel Sipos as the main producers.

Since Spacey, the protagonist of House Of Cards and American Beauty was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, he has starred only in smaller films as part of the cast of L’uomo Che Disegno Dio (2021), directed by Franco Nero without commercial distribution in Hollywood.

Spacey’s film career was twisted after a score of young people sued him for allegedly sexually abusing them at the London Old Vic theatre between 1995 and 2013.

In addition, in 2020 he was denounced by an anonymous man in New York alleging that the film producer would have acted in the same way with him during the 1980s, when the plaintiff was 14.

Spacey’s last major appearance on the billboard was with Billionaire Boys Club (2018), directed by James Cox, which was then relegated to failure at the box office due to the scandal.
