When her Saturday morning dawned on September 1, Meghan Markle’s first summer as a duchess was officially over – and she’s not just back in town, but also back to work.

While the former Suits actress gave up her day job when she married Prince Harry on May 19, one of her upcoming duties means she’ll be back in front of TV cameras.

Meghan, 37, will give her first interview as a royal family member in a new British small-screen documentary about the Queen.

The Duchess of Sussex will take part in “a conversation, a chat” for the documentary series Queen of the World, ITV News’ royal correspondent Chris Ship told People.

Meghan will share details of her Windsor Castle wedding on the show, due to air on UK TV channel ITV in September.

Her husband Harry, 33, brother-in-law Prince William and father-in-law Prince Charles will also appear, giving sit down interviews.

During their relatively short acquaintance, the monarch and Meghan –snapped laughing together during an overnight trip on the royal train in June – have become allies, according to Us Weekly.

“While Meghan and the Queen come from two very different backgrounds and generations, there’s a warmth between the two that’s genuine and loving,” a source said.

Meghan made headlines on her first post-summer-of-love, back-to-work job, when she wore an $820 Judith & Charles tuxedo mini dress and heels on a very public date night in London’s West End with Harry on August 29.

Whether deliberate or not, the royal family’s official social media accounts cropped out Meghan’s legs in photos of the event.

The thigh-skimming dress is the most daring look Meghan has worn since becoming a royal.

It was a return to the former Deal or No Deal briefcase girl’s signature red carpet looks during her Hollywood days, when her go-to outfit for New York Fashion Week or showbiz bashes was a mini with heels.

For an earlier London night out, at the premiere of Hunger Games: Catching Fire in 2013, she went for short and black.

Since her engagement and marriage, she’s been more restrained and formal in her style, favouring modest Givenchy midi-dresses and a lot – a lot – of peach.

Flashbulbs popped when Harry and Meghan took their seats in the dress circle at a the Victoria Palace Theatre for a special performance of smash musical Hamilton to raise money for Harry’s Sentebale charity.

Meghan’s choice of outfit, which mirrored the 1990s style of Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, was reportedly on the instructions of her best friend and informal stylist, Canadian fashionista Jessica Mulroney.

According to US ABC News, the duchess recently pulled off a secret trip to Canada, flying commercial to visit Ms Mulroney, whose three children were in her bridal party.

“Meghan spent three days holed up at Jessica Mulroney and her husband Ben Mulroney’s home in Toronto,” the news outlet claimed this week.

“They spent their days catching up, cooking together and, of course, playing with Jessica’s children, who love their ‘Auntie Meg’.”

What else did Meghan do on her summer holiday? She kissed Harry at the polo, bought a puppy – reportedly a labrador – and bunkered down in the couple’s country house, said to be 145 kilometres north-west of London, in the Cotswolds.

The duke and duchess reportedly also caught George Clooney’s private jet to visit him and wife Amal – who were among the 600 royal wedding guests – at their luxe villa in Lake Como, Italy.

Reports claimed Meghan hung out by the pool with high-powered lawyer Mrs Clooney and their baby twins, while the actor and prince did watersports together.

The next trip for the Sussexes will be next month, when they head to Australia for Harry’s Invictus Games in Sydney. The working holiday will also include New Zealand.

Closer to home, on September 4, Meghan will join Harry for the annual awards night for his charity, WellChild. Two nights later, the couple will attend 100 Days to Peace, a gala evening of music marking the centenary of the end of World War I, at Central Hall Westminster.
