Margot Robbie teases first look as Sharon Tate in new Manson movie
The Aussie actor has provided the first peek of her role in Tarantino's upcoming film
Margot Robbie has shared the first-look image of her as actor Sharon Tate – and she’s a dead ringer for the tragic blonde.
It was announced months ago that Robbie would play Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, but her look has been kept under wraps until now.
According to Tarantino, the new movie is set in “Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippie Hollywood”, during the infamous Manson family murders.
Tate, who was married to director Roman Polanski, was the most high-profile victim of the murderous cult, whose leader Charles Manson died in a California prison last year at age 83.
Robbie, 28, posted a photo to Instagram showing her standing against a large door wearing a white mini skirt and matching go go boots, with a black turtleneck jumper.
It was a hit – within 12 hours the photo scored more than 1.7 million likes.

The Oscar winner’s signature contemporary chopped bob has been replaced for the movie with a long blonde blowout, which had fans and fashion sites wigging out.
Devoting an entire story to the “soft and buoyant” hairdo, Vogue.com called it “a medium-length mane that felt both referential and timeless, ideal for emulation regardless of decade”.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is Robbie’s first big-screen outing with Tarantino as director.
The role reunites her with her Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Rick Dalton, a former star of a TV western series who lives next door to Tate.
Brad Pitt plays Dalton’s stunt double, Cliff Booth.
DiCaprio posted a first look at him and Pitt on set, and the actors have reportedly been seen filming all over Los Angeles this northern summer.
Stealing the limelight on screen is going to be tough: The A-list cast also includes Burt Reynolds, Kurt Russell, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis and Luke Perry.
Debra Tate, Sharon’s sister who owns her life rights, said Tarantino had “done nothing but respect me and be very forthcoming” about Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
“I have very high hopes for this project,” Ms Tate said.
The brutal death of Sharon Tate
A Golden Globe nominee for 1967’s Valley of the Dolls, Sharon Tate and her director husband Roman Polanski were part of a glamorous young Hollywood 1960s set that included Warren Beatty, Jacqueline Bisset and Jane Fonda.
The couple had wed in London in 1969 – the bride in a white minidress – and later moved to a house at 10050 Cielo Drive, previously lived in by actress Candice Bergen, in the Los Angeles suburb of Benedict Canyon.
On the day of August 9, 1969, 26-year-old Tate was less than two weeks from her due date with her first child. With Polanski in London for work, she had friends over for lunch at her house.

That night, she had dinner at her favourite restaurant, El Coyote Cafe, with three friends. The whole party was back at Cielo Drive by 10.30pm.
Just before midnight, they were all murdered by members of the Manson family. Tate was found with a long rope around her neck, connecting her body to that of her friend Jay Sebring.
The coroner’s report recorded she was stabbed 16 times.
When he returned home, Polanski created controversy by agreeing to be photographed by Life magazine by the house’s front door, which had “Pig” written on it in Tate’s blood.
Tate was buried in a California cemetery. Her son, Paul Richard Polanski – reportedly named posthumously for his grandfathers – was buried in her arms.
