Kate Middleton is due to give birth to her third royal baby this month in the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington.
Kate’s other children, Prince George, 4 and Princess Charlotte, 2, were both born in the Lindo Wing.
What does the Lindo Wing cost?
The Lindo Wing offers standard room or deluxe room packages.
From July 2017 to March 2018 the price for a standard delivery package was $10,782 per night. A Caesarean section package was $13,593 per night.
An additional night’s stay can cost over $2000.
Kate didn’t rest up in hospital after having her babies. She left the Lindo Wing when George was a day old, and took Charlotte home to Kensington Palace the day she was born.
Kate and William leave the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with Princess Charlotte in 2015.
What pampering services are included at the Lindo Wing?
The wing is known for having five-star facilities as well as top-notch medical care.
In 2015, a mother who gave birth in the Lindo Wing told Mamamia that the services include “an a la carte menu, proper coffee, delicious snacks on hand whenever you want…fluffy white towels, scrumptious body products and thick white slippers”.
All meals are prepared within the wing kitchen by chefs who cater for special dietary, cultural and religious requirements.
Each room also includes satellite TV, a radio, fridge, free-wi-fi and a selection of daily newspapers. A afternoon tea service is also included during your stay.
What other royals have given birth here?
The wing was opened in 1937 and provides private hospital care for members of the public.
It has become popular amongst politicians, entertainers and the British royal family.
The children of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and the Duchess of Gloucester were born in the wing.
Princess Diana made the Lindo Wing fashionable when she gave birth there to Prince William on June 21, 1982. She chose the hospital again to have Prince Henry on September 15, 1984.
What sort of security will be in place for the royal baby?
According to the The Telegraph, crowd barriers have been set up on the street outside the hospital, stopping paparazzi, journalists, television crews and fans.
On April 10, parking restrictions also came into force, with entrances and four parking spaces being cleared outside the hospital.
