‘When I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say’: Uma Thurman’s anger over Harvey Weinstein claims

US actress Uma Thurman has provided an alarming – and seemingly damning – episode in the Harvey Weinstein scandal involving dozens of allegations of sexual misconduct.
When asked by an Access Hollywood reporter about the allegations levelled at Weinstein, Thurman’s response bordered on the chilling.
Her anger was palpable: “I don’t have a tidy sound bite for you, because I’ve learned – I am not a child – and I have learned that when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself.
“So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say,” the Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction star said through clenched teeth.
Thurman, 47, added it was “commendable” of fellow women to speak out.
The clip went viral on social media on Sunday, more than two weeks after it was shot on October 18, as the Weinstein allegations deepened.

Italian actress Asia Argento, who herself has accused Weinstein of sexual assault in the late 1990s, took to Twitter to congratulate Thurman for her response.
Dear #UmaThurman may peace be with you and your soul. We need your strong voice, it truly is commanding https://t.co/Wdom7pBEM4

Weinstein was the producer on all of the Quentin Tarantino films starring Thurman. She also appeared in films by Weinstein’s Miramax studio, A Month by the Lake and Beautiful Girls.
More than 60 women have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault or rape since the New York Times and The New Yorker broke the story in early October.
Weinstein has been sacked from The Weinstein Company. He denies all rape allegations.
Tarantino has since admitted to being aware of some of the allegations: “Enough to do more than I did.
“There was more to it than just the normal rumours, the normal gossip,” Tarantino told the New York Times.
“It wasn’t second hand. I knew he did a couple of these things.
“I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard.”
Thurman was reportedly dating Italian film executive Fabrizio Lombardo during the making of Pulp Fiction. Lombardo has been accused of setting women up for Weinstein under false pretences while he was head of Miramax, Italy. Lombardo denies the allegations.
Kevin Spacey allegations
Meanwhile, yet another person has accused Hollywood heavyweight Kevin Spacey of sexual harassment, with actor Harry Dreyfuss adding his voice to the throng of people claiming misconduct by the veteran actor.
Writing in Buzzfeed, Dreyfuss said he was 18 when Spacey allegedly groped him in 2008. His father – Jaws actor Richard Dreyfuss – said he was in the room at the time but did not witness the alleged incident. Spacey has denied the allegation.
Ten others, including actor Anthony Rapp, have levelled accusations against Spacey, while streaming service Netflix has since cut all ties with him.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” the company said in a statement.
Netflix also said it wouldn’t release the film Gore, starring and produced by Spacey.
Among other Hollywood figures, producer and director Brett Ratner has also been accused of sexual misconduct.
The Los Angeles Times last week published an article in which six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, accused Ratner of allegations of sexual harassment or assault.
Meanwhile, Ratner has responded by accusing Hawaii woman Melanie Kohler of defaming him with a post on her Facebook page by alleging Ratner raped her in 2005.
