Actress Brooke Shields is the latest celebrity to reveal a date with her was one deal Donald Trump couldn’t seal.

Appearing on American TV show Watch What Happens Live, Shields mimed a gag reflex recalling she rejected the now-US president when he tried a hammy pick-up line on her.

Shields said the pair met at a charity event in the 1990s.

“Did he hit on you?” asked the show’s host Andy Cohen.

“No … but he did ask me out later,” said Shields, 52. “I was on location doing a movie and he called me right after he gotten a divorce.

“And he said, ‘I really think we should date because you’re America’s sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man and the people would love it’.”

The reason she gave the real estate mogul for turning him down?

“I have a boyfriend, he’s not going to be happy about it,” Shields recalled, pulling faces.

She clarified Mr Trump, 71, made the move on her after he legally separated from his second wife, Marla Maples, in 1996.

Decades on, Shields still seemed dismayed at the idea of an outing with the commander-in-chief.

“I can’t even speak,” she said when shown a photo of the two together at the charity event where they met.

Shields didn’t name the boyfriend she gave as an excuse, but in 1997 she married tennis great Andre Agassi.

The Lipstick Jungle star joins an increasingly large list of stars Mr Trump failed to woo.

Princess Diana once told a friend she thought Mr Trump was “stalking” her. Carla Bruni – later France’s first lady – called him “obviously a lunatic” when he said they had an affair in the 1990s.

Appearing on The Daily Show in the US in June, actress Salma Hayek, 51, said Mr Trump once asked her out even though he knew she was in a relationship.

Mr Trump’s response? “He’s not good enough for you. He’s not important. He’s not big enough for you. You have to go out with me”.

Actress Emma Thompson revealed on a Swedish TV show that Mr Trump called her when she was filming the 1998 movie Primary Colours.

“He said, ‘I wondered if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers. They’re really comfortable.'”

When Thompson wasn’t enticed by a free bed, Mr Trump pleaded his case further: “I think we would get on very well. Maybe we could have dinner sometime”.

They didn’t, which Thompson now regrets: “Think of the stories!”

Mr Trump had more luck – of sorts – with Candice Bergen.

Last month the Murphy Brown actress, 71, revealed she went on a blind date with him when she was 18 and they were at the same Pennsylvania university.

He picked her up wearing a burgundy three-piece suit with burgundy patent leather boots and he was in a burgundy limousine.

“He was a good-looking guy and a douche,” she told Andy Cohen.

“I was home very early. There was no physical contact whatsoever.”
