Candice Bergen dated a young “douche” Donald Trump in college
Actress Candice Bergen has admitted that she went on a date in her college years with a “good looking” real estate student “douche” who would later become United States president. His name is Donald Trump.
The five-time Emmy-winning actor and comedian, best known as sitcom reporter Murphy Brown, was quick to assure Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen and guest Reese Witherspoon on Wednesday night (US local time), she was “home early” after her single date with Trump.
In a game of true or false called, Candidly Candice, the star admitted she and a young Trump went on a date while the president attended the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to study real estate.
“He was wearing a three-piece burgundy suit and burgundy patent leather loafers in a burgundy limousine,” the 71-year-old said.
Cohen, who said that he loved Bergen because she can “move her face”, asked if there was any chemistry between her and the US president in his formative years.
“No, I was home early,” Bergen said, nodding her head with a wry smile.
The star was wearing a jumper embroidered with the text ‘Free Melania’ on the evening program – a clear nod to her feigned sympathy towards the First Lady.
When pressed even further on the nitty gritty details of her flirtation with the 45th president and if they had kissed, she again rebutted:
“There was no physical contact, whatsoever.”
Bergen moved to acknowledge the younger Trump was “good looking”, but also a “douche” to howls of laugher on the program.
“She wears this ‘Free Melania’ shirt with some authority here,” Cohen said as Bergen sipped from a copper mule.
In a separate interview on Thursday (local time) with Harry Connick Jr, Bergen said Trump had called her “in her dorm” and she was “bored”.
“I was home by 9(p.m)…it was a very short dinner.”
Bergen is not the only actress to confess dating the real-estate mogul, turned US president.
Selma Hayek revealed on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah the now-president once asked her out knowing she had a boyfriend.
