Mariah Carey has hilariously dodged searching questions about her former fiancé James Packer’s relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an awkward interview.
While in Tel Aviv to promote a new cosmetics line, Ms Carey was questioned about a 2015 dinner she attended with both Mr Packer and Mr Netanyahu while she was engaged to the Australian casino billionaire.
According to Israeli media, Israel Police is planning to question Mr Packer as part of a corruption investigation regarding the prime minister.
They are seeking to determine if expensive gifts given to Mr Netanyahu by Mr Packer, and subsequent actions Mr Netanyahu took on Mr Packer’s behalf, could amount to a conflict of interest.
But Ms Carey, whose engagement to Mr Packer ended in November 2016, wasn’t interested in devolving any information on her former flame.
“You sat in a dinner with Mr Netanyahu and Mr Packer did you see a special connection between them?” a reporter from Israel’s Channel 2 news station asked the music star.
“I was eating the food,”Ms Carey shot back. “They had some food there that was pretty good.”
Not content, the reporter kept pushing for information.
“The Police is investigating if Mr Packer gave Mr Netanyahu gifts,” he continued, looking at Ms Carey hopefully.
“I don’t know, yeah, I don’t know … I was just there because I was invited to a dinner,” Ms Carey responded, but the reporter remained hopeful.
“What do you remember from the dinner?,” he persevered.
Ms Carey, growing visibly impatient, tried to dodge the question, saying: “There was a lot of talk, conversation, food, dinner so … please.”
“We’re trying to find Mr Packer!” the desperate reporter said as he began to laugh.
The singer, between uncomfortable laughter, then delivered a not-so-family-friendly diss about her ex-fiancé.
“I don’t know where that motherf***er is!” Ms Carey said between laughter. “How am I supposed to know? For real.”
The 47-year-old singer concluded by saying she suspected Mr Packer was “somewhere, doing something”.
“I don’t know. I really have no idea about the political stuff that goes on, I don’t pay attention to it,” she added.
