Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has once again captured the public’s curiosity with a candid new interview detailing her sex life with her fiance, Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel.
In the astonishingly forthright interview with The Times writer Richard Godwin, Kerr appears to reveal she and Spiegel are waiting until after marriage to have sex.
The revelation came after Kerr asked Godwin what he used for contraception, before sharing her own preferences.
“That’s a very personal question Miranda!” Godwin said when Kerr questioned him about his chosen method. “Erm, we use birth control?”
“I don’t!” she responded.
When Godwin asked Kerr whether she planned to have another baby, the 33-year-old said: “Not yet. Not until after we get married. My partner is very traditional.”
“We can’t … I mean we’re just … waiting.”
Godwin extrapolated from this vague quote that Kerr was suggesting she and Spiegel, 26, were practising abstinence until after their upcoming nuptials.
Kerr announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2016 after a year of dating the young tech mogul.
While it will be Spiegel’s first wedding, Kerr was previously married to actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a six-year-old son, Flynn.
Godwin said he was “overcome with pity” for Kerr’s situation, telling her, “you poor thing”.
Kerr also spoke about Spiegel, her “mysterious” fiance who she said she originally felt was “too young to take seriously”.
The model and businesswoman said she was “obsessed with Snapchat”, the photo-messaging app Spiegel founded with friends in 2011 as a student at Stanford College.
Since meeting the Snapchat boss, Kerr has taken on the role of the company’s personal cheerleader, sharing her life with her fans on the app and even using her engagement announcement to spruik a new Snapchat feature.
“I’d be obsessed with Snapchat whether he [Spiegel] was in my life or not,” Kerr told Godwin.
“It’s the closest thing to having a conversation with someone in the moment … It feels more connected.”
Snap, Snapchat’s parent company, recently filed for its initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange,.
Spiegel currently holds 44.3 per cent voting power, of which just over 119 million are Class A and Class B shares.
While SNAP’s expected market price is unknown, if it lists at $US20 ($A26) per share Spiegel would be sitting on about $2.3 billion ($A3 billion) worth of shares, and that’s just Class A and B.
If the share price goes to $US100 ($A130), close to what Facebook is trading at, he’d be holding at least $11.9 billion ($A15.5 billion) worth of stock.
Meanwhile, Kerr’s net worth has been estimated at about $US45 million ($58.7 million).
