Girls star Lena Dunham has been hospitalised
Girls star and creator Lena Dunham has been hospitalised and will undergo surgery.
A representative for Dunham said a ruptured ovarian cyst was the cause.
“This morning, she suffered from an ovarian cyst rupture and has been taken to the hospital,” the representative told People magazine.

Dunham recently withdrew from Girls publicity commitments due to her endometriosis, and has been very open about her battle with the disease.
Endometriosis affects 10 per cent of women, and causes embryo cells to grow outside of the uterus rather than inside it, causing nodules to develop and significant pain for the sufferer.
In a February Instagram post, Dunham told her 2.4 million followers she needed to take time out from her busy schedule to deal with the disease.
“As many of you know I have endometriosis, a chronic condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women’s reproductive health,” she wrote, alongside an image of her hand on a bedspread.
“I am currently going through a rough patch with the illness and my body (along with my amazing doctors) let me know, in no uncertain terms, that it’s time to rest.
“So many women with this disease literally don’t have the option of time off and I won’t take it for granted.”
