Pregnant actress Anne Hathaway has beaten nosy paparazzi to the punch by sharing her own photo of her much-discussed baby bump.

On Monday the 33-year-old posted a photo to her Instagram account of her in a red bikini cradling her burgeoning belly.

While the star admitted the revealing image was “out of character” for her, she had a good reason for sharing it.

“Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends!” the Interstellar star captioned the photo.

“So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed.

“I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :)”

“Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead!” the Oscar winner concluded.

The post has since received more than 83,000 likes from Hathaway’s 8.3 million followers.

The actress is expecting her first child with husband Adam Shulman, 34, whom she married in 2013.
