It’s the news Offspring fans dreaded would never come: the show is making a comeback.

More than a year since the last episode of the Ten drama screened, the network announces obstetrician Nina Proudman (Asher Keddie) will be back on air in 2016.

Fans will be pleased about the news because Ten hit the pause button just as Nina was settling into single motherhood.

Keddie begins work on the sixth season as a real-life mum. She and her artist husband Vincent Fantauzzo welcomed their first child in March.

Keddie is one of the most popular actors on Australian TV, and particularly endeared herself to Australian audiences as Dr Nina Proudman, which earned her the 2013 Gold Logie. Keddie only announced she was expecting her first child last November.

It is Fantauzzo’s second child.

He has a four-year-old son from a previous relationship.
