Cause of Cilla Black death released

A post-mortem has revealed much-loved British entertainer Cilla Black’s cause of death.

The 72-year-old was sun-baking at her home in Spain when she stood, lost her balance and then fell hitting her head, knocking her unconscious.

The coroner said she died as a result of stroke, and didn’t suffer.

Her three sons released the information after they had a “conclusive” answer from the post-mortem, as to the cause of death.

Arrangements are now being made to bring the singer’s body home to the United Kingdom for a funeral.

“We are devastated by the sad loss of our mother, but have been deeply touched by all the kind messages of support from her friends, fans, the public and media,” said Robert, Ben and Jack Willis in a statement to the BBC.

“We would like to thank everyone, especially the people of Liverpool. The tributes and condolences have really helped us through these difficult times.

“The Spanish authorities have now told us we are able to bring Mum home, which we hope to do as quickly as possible.

“We would also like to thank all those involved for their assistance with this matter. We respectfully request for our continued privacy to grieve.”

Funeral details will be released when they come to hand.

From Liverpool, Cilla Black was born Pricilla Maria Veronica White and rose to fame in the 1960s with a group of top 10 hits.

She then turned to television in 1968 when she had her own BBC primetime series, and then went on to host Blind Date and Surprise Surprise for ITV.
