The actor comedian is already a member of the Alberquergue school board and is running alongside three other competitors, according to The Associated Press.
At 52-years-old, the Mexican-American official says he feels someone like him can make a difference in an area where developers seek to build homes amongst historic hispanic sites.
“I think I bring a new face to the Democratic Party,” said Mr Quezada.
“We need to reach out to our young people — the young Chicanos, the young Latinos — and get them involved in this process and let them know this is important.”
Breaking Bad is set in Alberquerque, the same place Mr Quezada is running for office.
