Melissa McCarthy has the worst headshot ever

Comedienne Melissa McCarthy has made a career out of humiliating herself, but it seems even she is not immune to the horrors of a bad photo.

The actress made an appearance on Britain’s The Graham Norton Show on Friday, where host Graham Norton unearthed some things from her past she would probably rather had stayed hidden.

“First of all, I don’t know how you got them [the headshots] because I literally thought I had the only two hard copies,” McCarthy said to Norton before he shared the photos with the audience.

“When you sent them to me I thought ‘Oh god they’re out there’.”

McCarthy, who rose to fame in comedies like Bridesmaids, This is 40 and The Heat, had her start in sketch comedy.

In an attempt to explain the quirky photos, she said her agent at the time wanted her to take “character shots” to bring along to auditions.

This one features a character McCarthy invented during her early sketch comedy performances – a woman called Carol who “passes out cheese samples in a grocery store”:

And this one is McCarthy’s take on “Western Barbie” in which she wears a mini cowboy hat and earrings she fashioned out of tiny cowboy boots:

McCarthy, now 44, was only 26 years old in the photos.

“I am 26 in that picture and I thought it was a good idea to put on a grey snarled wig and old lady glasses .. sure, who wouldn’t hire her?” McCarthy joked.
