Modelling for designer Josh Goot at the festival’s Grand Showcase parade on Thursday night, Pejic told News Corp she was proud to be walking again in her hometown.

“It’s really cool, this is where I got my start as a model,” she said.
“I’m really proud to be here. I love Melbourne.”
This is Pejic’s first time back on the catwalk in Australia after the 23-year-old underwent gender reassignment surgery last year.
Prior to her surgery, Pejic modelled in shows at Paris Fashion Week as both a man and woman.
Speaking on Channel 10’s The Project on Tuesday night, Pejic said there was a lot of ignorance about the transgender community, adding there was still “a long way to go”.
The model said she was compelled to share her story, and is currently filming a crowdfunded documentary about her experience.
“It was very important to me to share the story and humanise the situation and the experience,” she said.
