‘Bless him’: Lena Dunham quotes Tom Meagher
American actress and author Lena Dunham has paid tribute to the husband of murdered Melbourne woman Jill Meagher, Tom Meagher, in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Dunham posted a screenshot from Mr Meagher’s powerful essay The Danger of the Monster Myth to her Instagram account, which has has more than 1.2 million followers.
In the essay, Mr Meagher reflects on his wife’s death and dissects the culture of rape and violence against women.
Ms Meagher was raped and murdered off a busy street in Brunswick in 2012.
In the photo caption, Dunham added her own opinion on the issue, describing Meagher’s thoughts as “beautiful words”.
“To anyone who has accused me/us of vilifying men as a group: analysis of the rampant forces that keep women from speaking about assault should not scare you,” Dunham wrote.
“It should excite you, because you will have happier, more engaged and empowered partners who trust you and open up to you. I f**king love men, I want to be in dialogue with men.”
Dunham, who has been vocal about her own experience of rape, concludes her statement with a celebration of Mr Meagher’s brave efforts.
“Tom Meagher used his wife’s unspeakable death to create dialogue, so bless the f**k out of him.”
