Australian actress Portia de Rossi has surprised her wife, Ellen Degeneres, with a grand gesture on their six-year wedding anniversary.

The talk show host took to Twitter to share her delight after de Rossi emblazoned the sky with skywriting spelling out the word “Six” in honour of their lengthy (by Hollywood standards) union.

In recent months, the pair have been plagued by break-up rumours but have maintained that their relationship is solid.

“I read that we were getting divorced, and I went and told [De Rossi], and she was sad,” Degeneres joked to Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year. “We both were so sad.”
