One Direction Gaza tweet causes kill threats
A member of boy band One Direction has received death threats after using his Twitter account to weigh in on the Gaza conflict.
Singer Zayn Malik, who was raised Muslim, tweeted the hashtag #FreePalestine to his 13 million Twitter followers, before it was retweeted more than 150,000 times, according to a Nine News report.
The 21-year-old has been hammered by fans, some of who are Israeli, with many telling him to “kill himself”, or offering to kill him themselves after seeing the tweet.

“It broke me that one of my idols wand [sic] me to die,” one message read.
This is not the first time that celebrities have faced controversy for showing support for Palestine.
Singer Rihanna posted a similar ‘free Palestine’ tweet, but deleted it within minutes after it sparked a massive backlash.
