Ryan Gosling fans the world over may be feeling a little devastated this morning after it was confirmed that his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, is seven months pregnant with his child.

People magazine has confirmed that the couple, who began dating in 2011, are expecting their first child later this year.

Mendes, 40, and Gosling, 33, met on the 2012 set of their film The Place Beyond the Pines, but have not been spotted in public together since November last year.

Fans of Gosling’s breakout role in the 2004 romance The Notebook are mourning the pregnancy announcement as the definitive end of a potential reunion with his co-star and ex-girlfriend, Rachel McAdams.
