Roblox rolls out family zone amid safety questions continue

Millions of children spend hours every week exploring Roblox’s virtual worlds, but many parents have little idea what they’re actually playing.
Now, the gaming giant has launched a new “family zone” feature, designed to encourage parents to jump into games alongside their children while learning about the platform’s safety settings.
The feature aims to help families better understand how Roblox works and give parents more confidence navigating the online environment with their kids.
The update comes as Roblox continues to face scrutiny about online safety. Australia’s eSafety Commissioner has previously raised concerns about grooming, inappropriate content and violent experiences appearing on the platform, while Roblox says it has strengthened age verification, parental controls and chat restrictions to better protect younger users.
Despite those changes, experts say technology alone isn’t enough. They argue the best defence remains parents taking an active role understanding what their children are playing, who they’re interacting with, and having regular conversations about staying safe online.
