Deadloch‘s Kate Box is looking forward to every minute of this year’s Logie awards with co-star Madeleine Sami.
Both are nominated for a Silver Logie for best actress in a comedy, so Box jokingly says the “competition will be wild”.
“I will get a bit nervous on the night but I am excited to see my friends,” she tells The New Daily ahead of the Logies.
“Anytime you’re at those things there’s always an element of nerves, also I am sure Mads [Sami] and I will be in fisticuffs all night, the competition will be wild.”
Box, who plays Detective Dulcie Collins (Sami plays colleague Eddie Redcliffe), says she’s “chomping at the bit” to get back on set after Amazon renewed the show for a second season.
“To be able to stand up there nominated alongside Madi – Dulcie and Eddie come as such a team – so the two of us to be able to hop up there together and celebrate the worth of the show and to be nominated … It’s a wonderful feeling,” she says.
“Deadloch has cultivated a legion of fans in Australia and around the world and reached the Top 10 (TV Shows) in more than 165 countries,” says Amazon, adding its streaming platform Prime Video had secured eight nominations.
Box and Sami join a long list of Australia’s small screen stars on the carpet, as well as a stack of small screen newcomers, musicians and reality TV celebrities for the television industry’s ‘night of nights’ at The Star Sydney.
Melbourne comedian and radio host, Sam Pang (The Front Bar, Have You Been Paying Attention), will return as the host after doing such a great job last year as host for the first time in 11 years.
Seven West Media boss Jeff Howard said he “played a big part” in the show which drew its biggest audience since 2017, reaching more than 3.6 million viewers.

Everything we need to know about this year’s Logies
Sonia Kruger (Dancing with the Stars) and Dr Chris Brown (Dream Home) will host the red carpet, and singer Missy Higgins will pay tribute in the annual ‘In Memoriam’.
Singers Guy Sebastian (The Voice) and ARIA award winner Jessica Mauboy will perform with The Farnham Band to celebrate John Farnham’s career.
The documentary, John Farnham: Finding The Voice, has been nominated for best factual or documentary program.
This year, organisers have introduced changes to award categories and the judging process.
Three awards will continue to be presented as “most popular”, and the remaining 20 awards are named “best” to combine the previous “most popular” and “most outstanding” categories.

The guest list is a who’s who of Australian television, including key talent from 60 Minutes, The Block, The Wiggles, The Muster Dogs, Home and Away and the free-to-air breakfast TV shows.
A collection of comedians, writers, producers and directors scored an invite, including Working Dog’s Tom Gleisner.
Writer, standup comedian and actress Kitty Flanagan from Fisk has RSVP’d as a starter this year, after avoiding the awards night for the past two years despite receiving statuettes.
Pang had to accept on Flanagan’s behalf in 2022 after she won most popular actress, and Fisk co-star Julia Zemiro had to accept last year.
Streamers are winners
Meanwhile, for the first time, one of this year’s Gold Logie nominations, Asher Keddie, is being celebrated for her body of work on a streaming platform.
Unlike the Seven Network veteran Larry Emdur, Ten’s jungle newcomer Robert Irwin and co-host Julia Morris, Nine’s nice guy Andy Lee and the ABC’s favourite Tony Armstrong, Keddie is on the list for Binge’s drama series Strife.
The 64th TV WEEK Logie Awards are on Seven and 7plus on August 18 from 7pm
