Paris Jackson apologises for ‘dingo ate my baby’ post

The daughter of the late king of pop Michael Jackson has apologised for a social media post that poked fun at Lindy Chamberlain’s infamous “dingo stole my baby” quote.
Paris Jackson has sent her “sincerest apologies” for posting a photograph of herself patting a dingo while visiting Australia to Instagram with the caption, “a dingo ate my baby”, unknowingly referencing the death of baby Azaria Chamberlain.
The 19-year-old actress and model made her remorse known on Twitter on Friday morning, removing the image and admitting she thought she was referring to an online meme.
Reports suggest Ms Jackson took the photo while visiting a wildlife sanctuary on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays of Queensland.
The posts follow Ms Jackson being dubbed ‘WACKO JACKO 2.0’ by the Herald Sun after her antics at the Melbourne Cup.
Fairfax reported Myer paid the US celebrity around $A100,000 to attend the biggest day in horse racing as a special guest.
Set to wear a custom-made dress made by Australian designer Alex Perry, the daughter of music royalty also allegedly put up a fight and refused to wear the garment, opting instead for a bohemian Morrison frock.
At the event’s coveted Birdcage marquee of VIPs, a bored Ms Jackson stuck her tongue out to cameras and pressed her nose against the glass of the venue’s window, printed with the sign ‘PLEASE DO NOT LEAN ON ME’.
In a tweet she said she could care less about being called “wacko”, but said the ‘2.0’ reference brought her father into it – something she wouldn’t stand for.
The Manhattan socialite said it broke her heart to have visited the most “beautiful country” only to be shredded to pieces by their “monstrous media”.
“Everyone seemed stoked until I defended myself over the disgusting ‘wacko jacko’ headline. Build me up just to break me down I guess,” she said in a Twitter post.
“The last thing I want to do is offend anyone, especially a nation that I so deeply admire and appreciate. And I will always try to take accountability. Your media outlets just suck, man. It hurts,” she added in response to an Australian fan.
Ms Jackson also ruffled the feathers of Americans for an ill-timed tweet on Monday, professing, “why the f**k do people keep dying” in the wake of the deadly church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Within the hour, Ms Jackson apologised, once again making a plea of ignorance to the 26 people who died in the largest mass shooting in the state’s history.
In a later tweet, Ms Jackson clarified she had been lamenting about a friend.
“Whoa, just now hearing about Texas, and realised how insensitive to the families my last tweet must seem…to clarify, that was about a friend,” she said in a post.

Publicist Max Markson told The New Daily the “dingo ate my baby” reference was funny and Ms Jackson should be allowed to have a bit of humour.
He said the joke was about something that happened 30 years ago and many Australians often made fun of Meryl Streep’s Aussie accent in her depiction of Chamberlain in the 1988 film, A Cry in the Dark.
“She’s not your normal celebrity and not everyone fits into the 9 to 5 role. Her father was Michael Jackson; she’s grown up different to all of us,” Mr Markson said.
He estimated Myer had paid Ms Jackson $250,000 to attend the Melbourne Cup as a “fashion icon globally” after appearing on the front cover of Vogue Australia’s July 2017 issue.
“They [Myer] don’t want to be an old lady’s brand, they want to be cool and hip like Paris Jackson.”
