Summer staple the ‘Sunnyboy’ ice block is no more
One of Australia’s most iconic summer snacks, the “Sunnyboy” ice block, will no longer be made, according to its producer.
It’s manufacturer the Daily Drinks Co released a statement which claimed there had been a “sustained reduction” in demand for Sunnyboys, and they will no longer be sold.
‘No other products are affected by this deletion, and consumers will still be able to purchase all our other popular brands, including Zooper Dooper and Quelch,’ the statement read.
The Daily Drinks Co also makes the popular Prima and Berri Drinks and Just Juice beverages.
The company said it made the decision in August 2016.
Sunny boys have been sold since the 1960s and came in four flavours – Glug Cola, Orange Explosion, Razz Raspberry and Zap Lime.
They were famously a staple in school canteens around Australia and provided many children a messy but refreshing snack on a sweltering summer day.
Scores of Australians took to Twitter to bemoan the loss of the summer treat.
They stopped making Sunnyboys. Today just took a turn for the worse. WTF? #sunnyboy
