First came the cronut … now for the cookie shot
Megastar New York pastry chef Dominique Ansel revealed his latest hybrid dessert creation on Instagram today … the Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shot.
Ansel is set to debut the sweet treat at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas this weekend.
The morsel features extra-aerated cookie dough that’s baked until crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and filled with organic milk (of course).
Reps from Dominique Ansel Bakery told Eater.com the inspiration came after the French-born dessert king tried his first Oreo “a few weeks ago” and was encouraged to eat it with milk, which is not “a natural combination in French culture.”
Inspiration struck!
Dominique Ansel bites into his creation.
Ansel’s Soho bakery was mobbed last year with the creation of the Cronut – half doughnut, half croissant – which had hundreds of sweet tooth’s lining up around the block from the early hours of the morning to snag one of the pastries.
It spawned dozens of rip-offs, including Adriano Zumbo’s Zonut. Due to its limited availability, the Cronut spawned a black market with scalpers selling them for up to $100 each. The original is $5.
Will the cookie shot match the famous Cronut?
