Bunnings has claimed the top spot in YouGov’s 2025 Best Brand Rankings in Australia yet again.
The hardware group, which was also No.1 brand in 2024, maintained its top spot with a score of 48.1, albeit down from last year’s result of 48.1.
YouGov’s rankings are based on the Index score from YouGov BrandIndex, which measures overall brand health.
The score is calculated by averaging six key attributes: Impression, quality, value, satisfaction, recommend, and reputation, reflecting how well a brand is delivering on its promise.
Bunnings, which was also top brand in 2022, beat Toyota in the rankings.
Google – the second best brand in 2024 with a score of 46.2, was pushed into third place at 46.1.
The Australian top 10 features a diverse mix of sectors – South Korean tech and appliance company Samsung was fourth (46.0), followed by Colgate (43.7).
Bunnings was the only Australian-owned brand in the top five.
Cadbury, YouTube, Vegemite, JB Hi-Fi and Weet-Bix round out the top 10.
Australia’s Best Brands 2025
YouGov also identified the brands that made the most significant improvements in Australia over the past year, with online retailer Amazon leading with a 5.4 boost on the Brand Index from 2024.
Amazon’s video streaming platform, Amazon Prime, ranked third on the improved list with 4.1 increase behind second-placed WhatsApp (+5.2).
Guinness and TikTok rounded out the top five most improved brands with +4.0 increases.
Other brands making the top-10 most improved were Qatar Airways, Aldi, Booking.com, Instagram and American Express.
Brand Finance, which calculates a brand’s value rather than health – placed Bunnings at No.8 this year behind Commonwealth Bank, Woolworths, Telstra, ANZ, Coles, NAB and BHP.
However, it noted that Bunnings retained its strength as the go-to home improvement retailer by combining an extensive product range, family-friendly stores, and strategic innovations like Bunnings Local Delivery.
“Its focus on customer experience and adaptability to market trends ensures its position as a beloved brand,” Brand Finance said.
