Commonwealth Bank says it has restored services after an outage overnight stopped customers from making payments, viewing balances or using its Netbank website.
Issues for customers began about 9pm AEDT on Tuesday.
People trying to use Netbank were met with a message that the bank was “working to fix an issue affecting our services”.
“We’re aware some customers may be encountering difficulties with some of our services right now. We are urgently investigating this and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused,” the message said.

On Wednesday, CBA said service to the CommBank app and Netbank had been restored by 1.10am, with all services restored by 7am.
“Services are being restored. We apologise to customers who encountered difficulties accessing some of our services this evening,” the bank said on social media early on Wednesday.
“The CommBank app and NetBank are now available. Customers may still experience some delays to payments.”
CBA – Australia’s largest bank – said ATMs and cash withdrawals had remained available during the outage but some limits applied.
Debit and credit cards also continued to work but there were delays in some payments to customers at other financial institutions, CBA said.
