AFL personality Billy Brownless reportedly believes close friend Garry Lyon’s alleged affair with his ex-wife may have gone on for years.

The Age reported Brownless has been telling friends he suspects the affair may have occurred before the dissolution of his marriage in 2015.

Lyon and Brownless are old friends and have worked together on Channel Nine’s The Footy Show for years.

The fallout from Lyon’s alleged affair with Nicky Brownless has been swift, with Lyon taking leave from all of his professional commitments in order to deal with “an ongoing mental health condition”.

Channel Nine said Lyon is on an indefinite break and there was no timeframe for him to return to work.

Lyon’s regular commitments include hosting The Footy Show, Channel Nine’s Footy Classified and writing a column for The Saturday Age.

Lyon’s own marriage ended in 2015 after he and his wife attempted a reconciliation.
