Melbourne house from Beyonce video up for sale
A tiny, rundown Melbourne cottage made famous in one of Beyonce’s music videos is up for sale, but interest from buyers is yet to take off, the property’s agent says.
The Brunswick icon was occupied by 80-year-old Jeanette Meadows when her humble home suddenly became a backdrop for Beyonce’s 2013 ‘No Angel’ film clip.

A film crew dropped by the weatherboard cottage and approached Ms Meadows, who has since left the property, to use her home’s facade.
Most of the film clip was shot in Houston, Texas. But Beyonce, hoping to mimic an inner-city US neighbourhood, made the most of Melbourne’s historic decaying residences during a visit to the city.
The Brunswick home, listed for $470,00-$510,00, features two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a sunny outdoor area.
Despite the property’s obvious drawcard, property agent Luke Sacco said that aside from a small mention by the owner’s family, the details of the Beyonce backstory were news to him.
And, he said, it was not intended to be used as a clever marketing ploy.

“I only really heard a lot of the Beyonce story once I worked out that it was the house,” he told the ABC. “I did a bit of my own research.”
Despite a lot excitement on social media about the sale, Mr Sacco said there had not been much interest from buyers.

Still, it remains early days for the property, which was listed on Tuesday.
Mr Sacco said the cottage was in “pretty poor order and needs a whole heap of work”.
“It’s been in the family for a long time, but now unfortunately the mum has moved on and the family is selling it,” he said.
