Delay for new season of Game of Thrones

Speculation grows that George R.R. Martin’s new novel could arrive before season six of the HBO show.

The Hollywood Reporter says that as a result of HBO scheduling issues, the premiere of Thrones‘ sixth season is likely to be pushed from its traditional launch in late March/early April to late April or even early May.

Some may see the delayed start to the season as a Red Wedding-level event because they’ve been waiting desperately for information on the missing Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

The news is not all bad, though. Fans of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire have been hanging out for the next instalment in the series, The Winds of Winter, which is the sixth of seven novels Martin has written or plans to write. Fans may see Winds of Winter before the season six premiere.
