The Hun: fashion’s next big beauty trend
Often, keeping up with fashion’s biggest trends is a difficult, expensive and uncomfortable pursuit.
Stiletto heels, corset-like mini dresses and revealing crop tops aren’t exactly suitable for all ages.
• ‘Lesbians and voluptuous people shouldn’t wear this dress’
• Tom Piotrowski: from economist to bearded hipster
• Why the ‘dandy wildman’ is the new trend for men
• Tilda Swinton’s most incredible transformation yet
However, here comes a new trend that’s not only completely free to follow, but easy and – gasp – practical.
Behold, the ‘hun’. No, we’re not talking about a member of an ancient nomadic tribe, although that would make for a cool style statement.
We’re talking the half-bun. Hair half up, the rest half down.
As you can see above, Margot Robbie is a master of the trend, but she’s by no means the only one.
L-R: Kate Mara, Hilary Duff and Ashley Olsen wear their huns with pride.
According to Marie Claire UK, “the real beauty of this bang on trend look is how flippin’ easy it is to do! Seriously, anyone can nail this look – from Rapunzel to Miley Cyrus”.
Simple grab the top section of your hair and twist it into a bun, leave the remainder of your hair to flow free.
It keeps hair off your face without robbing you of your style factor and it works for long-haired men too.
Easygoing, attractive and beloved by both genders? This is the Jennifer Lawrence of hairstyles!
David Gyngell’s facial hair flip
Nine Entertainment CEO David Gyngell has some fairly important things to say about Nine’s profits and losses this week, but something else stole the spotlight.
The typically clean-cut businessman’s rugged facial hair was a bit of a departure for the corporate world.
Was it an intentional look or the result of many late nights and busy mornings?
Well, if Tom Piotrowski is anything to go by, Gyngell’s “corporate hipster” look could be the way of the future.
Throw your razors and standards out the window, gentlemen.
Anne Hathaway’s very expensive hat
When protecting our head from the sun or covering up a particularly nasty hair day, most of us opt for a cap from our favourite footy team, a beanie or even just a plain old brown paper bag.
Not Anne Hathaway. No, Oscar winner Anne Hathaway prefers hats of the $2450 designer handbag variety.
Here she is jokingly rocking the Givenchy Nightingale bag on her Instagram. She might be joking, but we’re serious when we say this trend could take off.
Stranger things have happened (Google “vampire facials”).
