Jackass star Steve-O has been arrested for climbing a crane in Hollywood in a protest against Seaworld.

The English-American actor and stuntman, whose real name is Stephen Glover, drew dozens of emergency responders to a construction site where he climbed a 60m crane, Los Angeles police said on Sunday.

When he reached the top, the 41-year-old inflated a large killer whale balloon with the words “Seaworld Sucks” on it and lit fireworks or a firecracker, Lieutenant Michael Ling said.

He climbed down on his own and was taken into custody.

Ling said because authorities were unsure whether Glover needed to be rescued, several ambulances and fire trucks were sent to the scene.

Firefighters prepared a cushion in case of a fall.

A call to SeaWorld was not immediately returned.

Glover’s representative didn’t immediately respond to a requests for comment.
