Margot Robbie stars in new Suicide Squad trailer
DC Comics’ Suicide Squad movie is fast becoming the most-anticipated film of the year.
Want proof? A grainy, poorly-filmed bootleg version of the official Comic-Con sneak peek spread like wildfire online, forcing the studio to release the real trailer.
• What is the Suicide Squad? Here are the juicy details
In short, it looks insanely cool. Starring Will Smith, Cara Delevigne, Jai Courtney, Jared Leto and Australian ingenue Margot Robbie, Suicide Squad follows the misadventures of a pack of dangerous super villains charged with a top-secret, deadly government mission.
Written and directed by David Ayer, who has been very vocal about the filming process online, the movie is based on the DC Comic books of the same name.
The three-minute trailer is dark, creepy and laden with heart-pumping action.
Robbie gets plenty of screen time in her role as Harley Quinn, the super-human girlfriend of Batman villain The Joker.
Leto is terrifying as the aforementioned Joker, closing out the trailer with a metallic grin and threat to “hurt you really, really bad”.
The film doesn’t hit theatres until August 5, 2016.
