Tune of revenge? Katy Perry vs Taylor Swift
Rumours that a new single attributed to pop princess Katy Perry was an act of revenge against her foe Taylor Swift have been quashed.
Speculation started to build on Monday after a song called 1984 appeared on music registration website BMI, with its artist listed as ‘Perry’.
Fans and critics quickly pointed out the similarities between the song’s title and Swift’s last album, 1989, sparking speculation that Swift wrote single Bad Blood as a dig at Perry, Time reported.

But Perry’s management team have claimed the song is a hoax.
“Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false,” they said to EW.
“Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2014, Swift said the single Bad Blood was about “her rivalry with a fellow female artist” – but no-one was quite sure who she was referring to.
Social media was inundated with comments when the single was released on BMI.

While on the Taylor Swift station on Pandora, a Katy Perry song came on. Next, Bad Blood came on. Coincidence? I think not.
