Tantalising ‘True Detective’ season two trailer drops
HBO has released a teaser trailer for its new series of True Detective and boy, it has us all excited.
The second season of the hugely successful crime drama stars a completely new cast, including Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch.
• The best new television shows you’ll love in 2015
The show’s first season starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two homicide detectives working to solve a dark and twisted crime in Louisiana.
In its new incarnation, True Detective is set in Los Angeles, with Farrell and Vaughn as its warring protagonists.
While Farrell is a compromised detective, Vaughn is an entrepreneur and criminal at risk of losing everything.
The trailer offers lots of moody staring set to a perfectly offbeat folk song, which we suspect was crafted specifically for the series (it sounds a lot like Nashville-based songwriter Lera Lynn).
While the show’s first season copped a lot of flak for its poor representation of females, the new season stars McAdams as a policewoman in an effort to improve the gender balance.
The second season will premiere on HBO in the US on June 21, 2015.
Australian viewers can watch it on Foxtel on the Showcase channel express from the US.
